Official says Russia still waiting for Venezuela to pay debt

MOSCOW, Apr 15 (PRIME) -- Moscow is still waiting for Venezuela to pay on its debt, Deputy Finance Minister Sergei Storchak told reporters on Monday.

“Well, we will maybe notify you, if there is a payment. There was not,” Storchak said. “There is a grace period in all credit agreements, there is a chance to solve technical issues.”

Venezuela is to pay semiannual interest on U.S. $3 billion debt to Russia. The last one, of more than $100 million, was made in September. Repayment of the body of the debt will begin later.
